The City of Sisters has five (6) Boards, Commissions and Committees that support City Council and staff. These various bodies serve an important role in the connection between city government and the public. Volunteering for a Board, Commission or Committee is a powerful way to be involved in the business of the city!
Community participation on a City Board or Commission serves two important purposes:
- Board members are directly involved in their local government and can positively impact the future of their community.
- The City Council receives timely input and information regarding issues and potential impacts.
The various Boards and Commissions serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council within their respective municipal policy areas. Members are unpaid volunteers who devote their time to these community activities. In addition to our five regular boards, commissions and committees, various temporary standing committees may be established for specific purposes.
