The City of Sisters is Recruiting for the New Public Art Advisory Board

The City is in the process of establishing a new Public Art Board, designed to serve as an advisory body to the City Council and staff on public art initiatives. The Public Art Board will play a key role in shaping how art is experienced throughout the community. From recommending new public art projects to advising on placement, acquisitions, and long-term maintenance, board members will directly influence the landscape of Sisters.

The City seeks five individuals who bring both expertise and enthusiasm for the arts. The goal is to build a group that balances professional experience with community perspective. The proposed Board composition includes; at least one member representing a local arts or cultural organization, two practicing professionals, such as artists, designers, architects, or individuals with public art experience, and two at-large community members with a strong interest in the arts, public spaces, or community development. The majority of members must reside within the city limits, though one non-resident may serve if they live within the Sisters School District boundaries.

Interested applicants are invited to apply during the recruitment period from May 18 through June 12, 2026. Qualified candidates will then be interviewed by a selection committee, with final appointments made by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Meetings are proposed for the fourth Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm.
