Community Planning Assistance for Wildfire (CPAW)

The City of Sisters was awarded a grant to participate with the CPAW program. The program supports local adaptation to wildfire by providing needs based technical assistance to communities. Technical assistance is offered in the form of land use planning recommendations, risk assessment, research, and capacity-building activities.CPAW services are voluntarily provided at no financial charge to selected communities and is a voluntary program. There is no legally binding or contractual relationship between the Consulting Team and the Community to participate in the program.

City staff and the Fire Marshall from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Protection District worked closely with WPI staff to coordinate the program delivery.Outputs may come in the form of recommended revisions to the City’s Development Code and/or Municipal Code requirements which requires Planning Commission and City Council action with public input.

Staff coordinated this program with the Sisters Country Community Vision project, which both spanned most of 2018.
