Business License
WHO NEEDS A BUSINESS LICENSE?
Any individual, partnership, corporation, or sole proprietor that wishes to conduct business within the City of Sisters must secure a business license. The Sisters Municipal Code states that all businesses within the city limits of Sisters, must obtain a city business license. Even if your business office is located outside the city limits and you only do business occasionally in Sisters, you still need a city business license.
How do I find out if I'm within the Sisters' city limits?

APPLY FOR A BUSINESS LICENSE:
An application form for a city business license may be obtained at Sisters City Hall, 520 E. Cascade Avenue or by downloading the business license PDF application. Please print, fill out and send back your completed application and a check for the amount of your license to:

Change of address:
To process a change of a business address, you will be require to be complete a new business application which then will be reviewed and approved by the City.
Renewals:
Once you have obtained a license, a renewal notice will automatically be mailed to you before the expiration date. If you do not receive a renewal notice, please contact the Business License staff. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve the business owner's responsibility of renewing the business license.
LICENSE:
City of Sisters business license is effective from July 1 of the current year until June 30 of the following year.
All City business license certificates must be posted in a conspicuous place upon the premises of the business.
Business license certificates are not transferable. The certificate becomes void when business ownership changes, and must be reported to the City of Sisters.

DETERMINE AND FOLLOW LOCAL ZONING AND BUILDING CODES:
Contact the Community Development Department at (541) 323-5207 for zoning, land use, and building code compliance prior to the signing of leases or sales agreements; and, before making any exterior or interior alterations.
After obtaining building permits, you can perform any building modifications required by the City, or those necessary for the successful operation of your business.
SIGN REGULATIONS:
The City of Sisters has a sign ordinance. If you plan to install a new sign, or make changes on a sign that has already been installed, please contact the Community Development Department at (541) 323-5207.
